Google is not shying from a head-on battle against linear TV with the recent publishing of a study entitled "YouTube challenges TV on advertising ROI".

In this study, Google has claimed, backed up with science, that "... at current spend levels, YouTube delivered higher ROI than TV in 77% of studies".

Now that digital is poised to overtake traditional advertising, such studies and data appear to be realistic - specially that TV research remains to be marred with a serious lack of credibility and poor oversight. We have seen over the last twelve month a significant growth of investments geared towards video advertising, let alone the increased industry chatter over big-name clients who seem to be shifting budgets from linear TV to digital.
